What
laser do you use?
We use the Sciton Profile Multilaser, medical grade (not
spa grade) a more highly advanced medical multilaser device.
How do you
determine how many treatments are needed?
The average patient is advised to have between
6-10 treatment sessions. The more severe the case the more treatments
are needed.
What is the
general percentage of improvement in past patients?
Generally patients receive anywhere from 50% to 80% improvement.
It varies greatly on the patients severity. Our goal is to put
your condition into remission.
What percentage of clearance
will I receive?
That depends on the severity and how you respond to the laser.
We will have a better idea after several treatments.
Do I have to come back
and get more touch up treatments or am I completely done after my
recommended number of treatments?
There’s a good chance that you may need additional treatments
or touch ups over the next few years to keep your Rosacea condition
in remission.
What makes your facility
different than anywhere else?
We are a medical Institute that understands the complexity of flushing
disorders. Our treatment armamentarium is replete with treatment
modalities that attack the inflammatory condition from many facets
to give you the best chance of having your inflammatory condition put
into remission. We utilize the state-of-the-art Sciton Profile
multi-laser system to treat the underlying causes of Rosacea. Dr
Nielson, the medical director, oversees all treatments. Each
treatment pass is tailored based on the disorder subtype, severity
and to the way the skin is reacting at the time to maximize the efficacy
of fully treating the targets. We utilize the latest topical medication
and oral medications along with angiogenesis inhibitors during treatments. No
two patients are alike is how they respond to the laser energies, so
tailoring each treatment pass to the reaction or lack of reaction helps
to maximize efficacy and likelihood of putting the inflammatory condition
into remission.
What makes the condensed
protocol safe?
- Multiple treatment passes during a treatment session due to the
highly advanced Sciton Multi-laser device and the Rosacea
Multipass™ proprietary technique.
Our Sciton Multi-Laser state-of-the-art device is equipped with a
sapphire cooling crystal (maximizes conduction of extraneous heat away
from non targets helping to protect them and making the treatments
more comfortable) which allows us to do Multipass™ treatments
without causing damage. We also employ a post cooling protocol along
with oxygen and amino acid complex (OxyMist®) treatments
which allows your skin to recover more quickly which makes it possible
to conduct a condensed protocol safely. Blue light is also used
as an integral part of the treatment protocol to accelerate recovery
from tissue edema, papule reduction and lessening the sensitivity of
inflammatory pathways.
What does the laser target
that keeps my face from flushing and burning?
Various targets which include:
- superficial and deep feeder vessels which feed excessive blood
to the face
- Inflammatory cells and portion of the inflammatory pathway (IL1
IL2, etc), improves lymphatic drainage, shrinks pores, shrinks the
neck of sebaceous glands.
Will I see results the
day I leave the Institute?
Generally it takes 4 – 6 weeks after your treatments before
you see the full healthy results. But in some cases we have been told
by previous patients that they can see subtle differences and feel
better while they are here at the Institute, usually after the 3rd
or 4th treatment session.
What are the risks?
Possible but not often seen are, blistering, hyper pigmentation,
hypo pigmentation, scarring.
How often do you see
those risks?
- A small amount of Blistering may be seen occasionally.
- Avoiding the sun while receiving treatment helps to avoid Hyper
pigmentation and Hyopigmentation.
Do you treat Rosacea
with topical and oral medications also?
Yes, the Institute utilizes the latest topical and oral prescription
medications along with Angiostop, an angiogenesis inhibitor, Zinc and
MSM.
What does the Angiostop,
Zinc and MSM do?
The Angiostop inhibits the regeneration of damaged blood vessels.
The Zinc is used to decrease inflammation helping to reduce papules
and pustules in Rosacea patients. The MSM is used for inflammation
and healing.
How does the laser suppress
the Neural Burning?
By vessels near the nociceptors (pain nerve endings).
How long
does a treatment take?
Generally treatments last 40-45 minutes
Will the laser improve
my lumpy bumpy skin texture? How?
Yes, The laser targets the dilated blood vessels, Fibrosis, and
inflammatory cells, reduces pore size, shrinks the necks of sebaceous
glands decreasing oily skin, stimulates collagen production.
Will I receive medication
to keep my swelling/flushing down while flying?
Patient’s PCP may prescribe for patients with severe anxieties
to travel.
Who will be administering
my treatments?
You will be treated by our Sciton laser technician Renee; who
has 12 yrs performing laser treatments and Dr. David Nielson. Natalie,
a certified Sciton laser technician does blue light treatments. Dr
Nielson, the medical director, oversees all treatments.
How many have had to
come back for more than the initial recommended treatments?
About 20% of patients return for additional Treatments.
What is the different
between the lasers?
The Sciton BBL Laser uses broad band light which targets blood
vessels and sebaceous glands by photo-coagulating the oxyhemoglobin
in the culprit vessels of a particular caliber in the upper levels
of the dermis. The Nd:Yag 1064nm Laser targets superficial as well
as deeper culprit vessels using a special hand piece, settings and
technique. The Nd:Yag 1064 is the cornerstone of treatments our Institute. Blue
Light is used routinely in a special way to help promote tissue recovery
maximizing skin health making treatment efficacy highest possible,
especially in the condensed Rosacea Multipass® protocol.
How do you treat papules
and pustules?
We perform Blue Light Multipass treatments as an integral part
of the proprietary Rosacea Multipass® treatment protocol. Targeting
the neck of the sebaceous glands, inflammatory cells (Neutrophil dispersement),
portions of the inflammatory cascade (IL1, IL2, etc) achieves a higher
efficacy and therefore, likelihood of putting the Rosacea condition
into remission. A decrease of papules and pustules is common. |
